Fujifilm has announced that the 16-80mm f/4 zoom lens will be available from late September for 800 USD or 1050 CAD. The lens is weather-sealed and stabilised, with Fuji claiming 6 stops of stabilisation are achieved, close to what Olympus has claimed is the theoretical limit before taking the rotation of the Earth into account.
The lens is constructed of 16 elements in 12 groups, with three aspherical and one ED aspherical element, and has nine rounded aperture blades. The filter size is 72mm, weight 440 grams, and the lens extends from an initial 89mm to 132mm as one zooms in. The minimum focus distance is 35cm, giving a magnification of 1:4 at the telephoto end.
I must say I’ve seen more impressive MTF curves than these.
